At MNCC our values shape the way we work & play

Choosing a centre is very personal and based on individual values.

Why Us?

Being a not-for-profit organisation, all fees and fundraising go back into centre, which ultimately benefits the children.

We are a long established centre aiming to strengthen community through providing wholistic and sustainable learning opportunities for local children.

Our preschool program focuses on developing social skills the equip our children for school and learning. We believe our children learn best through play in a loving and nurturing environment.

We employ educators that believe in our values, and who will be an advantage to the wider community. In return we take care of our educators needs, this leads to a low staff turnover and ultimately more stability for the children and families.

Sharing ownership, direction, and responsibility for the centre, connects us to the local community which builds long lasting connections and helps MNCC flourish.

With many of our families not having the support of extended family nearby, our small-scale centre, allows us to have a home like feel and provide support for all our families.

For information about the centre, please download our Parents Handbook.

FAQ’s

WAITLIST & ENROLMENT

How do I join the waitlist?

Contact our Director who will send you an information pack and book a tour of the Centre. This is a great way to find out more about MNCC.

It’s never too early to join the waitlist.

You will be required to fill out a waitlist application form and pay a non- refundable administration fee of $50.

Can I join the waitlist if my baby hasn’t been born yet?

Yes, you can. We encourage families who are expecting to book in a tour and fill out a waitlist application form. Once your baby is born, please update your details.

What do I need to do if I am offered a place at MNCC?

To secure your position, you will need to complete the enrolment form which we will send you when we offer you a position at MNCC. The following documentation will be required along with the enrolment form:

  • Copy of your child’s birth certificate or passport
  • Any relevant documents relating to sole parenting documentation, medical plans, custodial orders etc.
  • Current immunisation record from Medicare or the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR)
  • Please also ensure that you have applied to be assessed for Child Care Subsidy prior to starting at MNCC

Immunisations

A current immunisation record is required for all enrolments. Copies of your blue book records are not accepted. You can obtain a copy of your child’s immunisation details at any time.

  • using your Medicare online account through myGov
  • using the Medicare Express Plus App
  • by calling the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) general enquiries line on 1800 653 809

My child is not immunised - can they be enrolled?

No. From the 1st January 2018, any new MNCC enrolments will require the child to be fully up-to-date with their immunisations, or be on a catch up schedule, or have a medical exemption to be enrolled into care. Documentation supporting the child’s immunisation position must be provided at the time of enrolment.

Children who are not vaccinated are not eligible to receive the Child Care Subsidy. See updated Immunisation requirements for the CCS.

My child was immunised overseas, can I supply a copy of this schedule to show they are up to date?

Overseas immunisation schedules may differ from the Australian schedule and cannot be accepted.

  • If a child was immunised overseas, their immunisation record will need to be checked by a GP who will upload the information to the Australian Immunisation Register, and provide an AIR Immunisation History Form aligning their immunisations to the current Australian schedule and what immunisations the child needs to catch-up on.
  • Parents can then request an updated AIR Immunisation History Statement to reflect this and submit to MNCC.

NOTE: A doctor’s letter is not acceptable – only an AIR Immunisation History Form, a catch-up schedule or medical exemption form will be accepted.

Is there an initial payment required to confirm enrolment?

For all enrolments, we ask for an initial payment bond of 2 weeks gross fees. This can be allocated towards your final fees upon departure from the Centre.

If the enrolment is cancelled more than 4 weeks before the commencement date the full initial payment will be returned to you. Please see our fees policy for all other terms regarding your bond.

What other fees do I have to pay?

All families are required to a fundraising levy of $500 when their child commences at MNCC. This levy is then rolled over, for continuing families, upon meeting the fundraising levy requirements.

For families who are departing MNCC the Fundraising Levy will be refunded if you have met the levy requirements.

Extra costs my be incurred for extra curricular activities such as yoga, soccer, music, or excursions. Families will be notified when these are occurring.

Do you offer orientation visits before my child starts at MNCC?

Yes we offer new children up to three 15-30 minute orientation visits prior to commencing at the Centre.

You can arrange these with the Centre Admin once you have accepted the enrolment offer.

THE CENTRE

What does being a cooperative mean?

As a cooperative we have a charter of rules and a management committee (board of directors) who have children currently attending MNCC.

When you accept a position at MNCC you automatically become a member of the cooperative.

Active participation is required from all members. At MNCC this looks like attending a minimum of 3 parent meetings, 1 working bee and assisting with 1 fundraising event.

On top of this we encourage all families to consider joining our management committee/board of directors at some point during their child’s enrolment at MNCC.

Our Fundraising levy is linked to our active participation requirements.

How often and when are parent meetings held?

We generally hold our parent meetings on the fourth Tuesday of the month, usually at 7pm. We aim to offer 3 meetings a year at 7.30am.

We do not hold meetings in January or December.

Currently, due to COVID-19, all meetings are being conducted online via Zoom.

CCS

Am I able to claim Government Child Care Subsidy if I enrol with MNCC?

Yes, we are a registered childcare provider which means that eligible families are able to claim the Government Child Care Subsidy relating to your childcare.

The Child Care Subsidy (CCS) is designed to help make early learning and childcare more accessible for a large number of Australian families. Child Care Subsidy will generally be paid directly to your approved childcare provider/s to reduce the fees you pay. MNCC is here to support you as you begin to discover your family’s entitlements and the varied options available.

You can find out more information about CCS through Services Australia here.

How does the Child Care Subsidy work?

The Child Care Subsidy is paid directly to providers and then passed on to families as a fee reduction. Families pay the difference between the fee charged and the subsidised amount.

How do I know if I’m eligible for the Child Care Subsidy?

There are certain requirements that must be satisfied for an individual to be eligible to receive the Child Care Subsidy (CCS) for their child. These include:

  • The age of the child (must be 13 or under and not attending secondary school)
  • The individual, or their partner, meeting the residency requirements
  • The combined family income meeting the specified requirements
  • The child meeting immunisation requirements
  • The activity level of your family – See the Department of Education’s Child Care Subsidy Activity Test

To find out more information about CCS and eligibility please visit:

  • The Department of Education has provided extensive Frequently Asked Questions on their website.

EXISTING ENROLMENTS

What's the notice period to change or end the enrolment days?

At MNCC we require families to give 4 weeks written notice when reducing days or ceasing your enrolment. You can add extra days at any time depending on availability.

To request a change of days email the Director at maroubrakids@bigpond.com

Will my child move rooms when they have a birthday?

At MNCC moving into an older room can take place throughout the year and are based on developmental readiness, availability and by age. We will also consider your child’s social group when moving them up. When our pre-schooler children leave for primary school in January, we also have the opportunity to move children to the next age group.

We acknowledge the Gadigal and Bidjigal peoples who traditionally occupied the Sydney coast as Traditional Owners of the land on which we are helping our children to grow. We pay our respects to their Elders, past and present and emerging.
